Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital seeks a Public Safety Lead Officer to oversee daily security operations and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. In this on-site role, you will supervise safety officers, coordinate responses to emergencies and incidents, and conduct patrols, investigations, and risk assessments. You will collaborate closely with clinical and support teams, model compassionate, culturally responsive service, and support training and continuous improvement in line with the hospital's mission of health equity for South Los Angeles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily public safety operations to ensure a secure hospital environment for patients, visitors, and staff
  • Supervise and support safety officers, assigning posts and monitoring performance
  • Coordinate responses to emergencies, disturbances, and security incidents, following hospital protocols
  • Conduct rounds, risk assessments, and investigations, documenting findings and actions taken
  • Collaborate with clinical, facilities, and administrative teams to address safety concerns
  • Train staff on safety procedures, de-escalation, and emergency preparedness
  • Monitor access control, surveillance systems, and incident reporting tools
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulations, and safety standards
  • Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services as needed
  • Promote a culture of respect, compassion, and health equity in all security interactions
