Job SummaryPlan, lay out, install, test and repair wiring on streetlights and private area lights electrical fixtures in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Use appropriate hand and power tools to measure, cut, assemble and install electrical conduits; weld supports; install cable; make terminations in accordance with required color codes and other specifications; pull wire through conduit; connect wiring to lighting fixtures; install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays and circuit‑breaker panels; install grounding leads; splice wire by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twist or solder wires together and apply tape or terminal caps;
test systems for electrical compatibility and safety using instruments; install related items in accordance with plans and specifications. - Participate in safety processes and programs; aim for zero injuries; identify hazards and report concerns to supervisor or safety professional; use stop work authority if needed.
- Report accidents and near misses; participate in investigation as needed.
- Participate in pre‑job work planning and safety discussions; identify safety hazards and take corrective action to eliminate or mitigate hazards.
- Understand and respond to safety hazards and warning devices; follow lockout/tagout procedures and site training.
- Follow established safety rules and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Use effective verbal and written communication; perform basic arithmetic as required.
- Coordinate work with other crafts and co‑workers; provide on‑the‑job training and mentoring to helpers and laborers.
- Produce quality work meeting plans, specifications and industry standards; read and understand plans and specifications including diagrams and schedules.
- Develop understanding of contract plans and specifications; install and/or repair wiring, electrical fixtures, and control equipment accordingly.
- Inspect helper's work for compliance with contract plans, specifications, and standards; identify and correct deficiencies.
At least 1 year of experience in the electrical craft or a combination of experience and training. Strong working knowledge of the electrical craft and the National Electrical Code (NEC). Must be at least 18 years of age. If applicable, possess all necessary licenses or certifications for the jurisdiction where work happens. Must have all necessary tools.

- Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move in and around confined and cluttered places; see and hear with or without correction.
- Full range of motion and flexibility for job duties.
- Use hands to handle and operate tools and equipment according to procedures.
- Repetitive movement; climb and balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
- Work up to a 12‑hour shift in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
- Work in cramped spaces and awkward positions; exposure to extreme temperatures, weather, dust, wind, rain, etc.
- Exposure to bright or inadequate lighting and to sounds that may be distracting.
- Work around hazardous equipment; this position is considered safety sensitive.
