Position SummaryThe Journeyman Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, and cooling towers.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on building systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Maintain plumbing systems including pumps, valves, and fixtures.
- Respond to service requests and emergency calls in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate logs, records, and documentation of work performed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes.
- Assist in training and mentoring apprentice engineers and maintenance staff.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in building operations or facilities maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks including climbing, bending, and kneeling.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and in secure environments.
- Indoor and outdoor environments.
- Exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards.
- May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
