We are currently seeking an experienced Facilities Engineer to oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and long-term integrity of a residential property in Los Angeles. You will be responsible for ensuring that all building systems, mechanical infrastructure, and technical operations function seamlessly across the property. This is a hands‑on role requiring deep technical knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to work autonomously while coordinating with vendors, contractors, and other household staff.
This role is ideal for a technically skilled, solutions‑oriented professional who takes pride in preventative maintenance, rapid problem‑solving, and operating behind the scenes in a highly discreet environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, calm under pressure, and accustomed to maintaining properties to the standards of a luxury hotel or commercial‑grade facility, within a private residential setting.
- Oversee daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, generators, elevators, and fire/life safety systems
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity of systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and systems‑related issues promptly and discreetly
- Support and maintain smart home systems (e.g., lighting control, climate control, security, AV, access systems)
- Coordinate with integrators and specialists for advanced diagnostics or upgrades
- Manage and oversee outside vendors, contractors, and service providers
- Review scopes of work, monitor quality, and ensure projects are completed on time and to standard
- Maintain service schedules, warranties, and documentation
- Ensure residence is fully operational, safe, and guest‑ready at all times
- Conduct regular walk‑throughs to identify potential issues before they escape
- Maintain compliance with local codes, safety standards, and best practices
- Assist with renovations, system upgrades, and capital improvement projects
- Provide technical input during planning and execution phases
- Maintain detailed logs, manuals, and records related to systems and maintenance
- Extensive experience maintaining high‑end residential, hospitality, or commercial properties
- Proven experience as a Facilities Engineer, Building Engineer, or similar role
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
- Familiarity with smart home technology and building automation systems
- Brings a strong technical foundation with excellent troubleshooting instincts
- Is self‑directed, detail‑oriented, and highly reliable
- Understands discretion, privacy, and professionalism in a private household setting
- Communicates clearly and works well alongside estate management, security, and household staff
Schedule: This is a full‑time role, Monday through Friday, with flexibility required for overtime as needed and when the family is in residence
Compensation: Up to $50/hour based on experience, healthcare coverage, PTO, 401K
