** Job Description*
* This position constructs and repairs building frameworks and structures. Stairways, door frames, partitions, rafters, cabinetry, siding, and drywall are a few examples of the onsite tasks this position is responsible for completing. Carpenters pay great attention to project detail and have a strong understanding of wood and metal properties. Carpenters are also required at various times to perform virtually all of the carpenter support activities performed by laborers.
This is a safety-sensitive position.
** Key Responsibilities*
* - Assist with assembly and removal of concrete forms used for concrete installation.
- Assist with building and installing window-frames, doors, door frames, staircases, stairways, partitions, millwork, trim, siding, drywall, and overall building frames.
- Ensure the layout of flooring, roofing, and drywall is level and compatible.
- Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp project requirements.
- Measure and calculate the size and amount of material needed, including cutting, shaping, and smoothing wood or other required materials to requested measurements.
- Assist with handling, transporting, and setting door frames.
- Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools.
- Job shadow in area assignments to ensure project knowledge and skill progression.
- Assist with area housekeeping.
- Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards, including helping to secure the jobsite at the end of each business day and verifying that all site materials are properly stored.
** Qualifications*
* + Valid Driver's License.
+ Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program.
+ Ability to take initiative and ask questions.
+ Keen attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
+ Must provide own safety footwear.
+ Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders.
+ Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
+ Reliable and punctual, including reliable transportation and consistent work attendance.
Preferred _:_
+ Experience in construction layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading.
+ OSHA 10 Certification.
+ CPR & First Aid Certification.
** Physical Requirements*
* Heavy Work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
+ Periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type; frequency varies by workflow and field activity.
+ Walking: frequently move about the jobsite.
+ Operate a computer or tablet and other office machinery such as a calculator and phone.
+ Frequently communicate with employees and external stakeholders; constantly read written communications, blueprints, and take/verify field measurements.
+ Climbing: ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps at various heights.
+ Balancing: maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand, or crouch.
+ Stooping: bending the body downward and forward at the waist.
+ Reaching: extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction for various lengths of time.
+ Grasping: apply pressure to an object with fingers and palm regularly.
+ Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.
+ Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures; frequently exposed to a noisy environment and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
** Education*
* + High School Diploma or GED.

** Compensation Range (Southern California Only)*
* Hourly Rate: $21.97 - $54.41 USD
