AMDA College of the Performing Arts is seeking responsible, engaged, and student-centered leaders to serve as Resident Advisors (RAs) for the Fall 2026 semester. Resident Advisors play an essential role in supporting residential students and fostering a safe, inclusive, and connected campus community. Student Workers in this role serve as peer leaders, provide support to residential students, and assist in promoting student engagement, community standards, and student well-being within AMDA housing.

This position offers hands-on leadership experience in student affairs, crisis response, community building, and residential life operations.

Position Overview

The Resident Advisor (RA) Student Worker supports the Office of Student Affairs and Residential Life by serving as a leader and resource within AMDA residence halls. This role requires professionalism, maturity, sound judgment, and strong communication skills. Resident Advisors support student engagement, community safety, policy awareness, and housing operations while helping maintain a positive living environment for residential students.

This position requires residence in AMDA campus housing for the duration of employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a positive role model and responsible member of the AMDA community.
  • Build positive relationships and establish rapport with residential students.
  • Maintain an active and approachable presence in the residence halls.
  • Support student engagement and community-building initiatives within campus housing.
  • Assist with student move-in, move-out, and Orientation activities.
  • Conduct scheduled duty rounds and respond to student concerns and housing-related incidents.
  • Support crisis response, student wellness concerns, and community safety initiatives as directed by
  • Student Affairs staff.
  • Complete incident reports and required administrative documentation in a timely manner
  • Participate in required RA training and regular staff meetings.
  • Assist with housing operations and administrative support as assigned.
  • Uphold and personally abide by all AMDA Code of Conduct policies and applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled AMDA student for the Fall 2026 term.
  • Must have successfully completed at least one semester at AMDA prior to the start of employment.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and must maintain good academic and disciplinary standing throughout employment, including no pending student conduct matters that would impact eligibility for student employment or residential leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond appropriately in student-facing situations
  • Must meet student employment eligibility requirements as determined by the Student Employment Office.
  • Commitment to supporting a diverse student community.
  • Ability to reside in AMDA campus housing for the duration of the position.
Time Commitment & Schedule Expectations

Resident Advisors are expected to work:

  • Orientation / Training Week: approximately 40 hours prior to the start of classes
  • Fall Academic Term: approximately 18 scheduled hours per week

Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and scheduled on-call coverage.

All hours worked must be accurately recorded and submitted through AMDA’s timekeeping system. This includes scheduled duty coverage, meetings, incident response, and required administrative follow-up.

International students are welcome to apply; however, all work hours must remain compliant with applicable federal on-campus employment limits while classes are in session.

Employment Details
  • Must reside in AMDA campus housing during the term of employment.
  • Compensation: $25.50 per hour.
  • Resident Advisors will be required to complete payroll and housing authorization documents as part of the onboarding process. Resident Advisors will have the opportunity to submit a voluntary authorization for earned wages to be applied toward campus housing charges.
