PURPOSE OF POSITIONThis position requires thorough knowledge and understanding of a human rights, strengths-based approach in serving clients. The Shelter Program Manager requires strong social work skills (particularly in crisis intervention and conflict resolution) and cultural competency. It also requires strong assessment and service planning skills, supervisory experience, and strong administrative skills. The Shelter Program Manager should possess a high level of maturity, flexibility, and awareness of the dynamics of shelter living with the ability to work independently and with others.
PROFESSIONALSUMMARY
Empathetic and Strategic Program Manager with over 2 years of experience working in shelter operations, crisis intervention programs, and cross-functional teams serving diverse, high-trauma populations. Proven track record in implementing DEI-centered, strengths-based, and trauma informed service frameworks. Skilled in staff supervision, grant compliance, facilities management, and cross-cultural advocacy. Adept at creating safe, equitable, and empowering environments for clients navigating recovery and transitional housing.
ESSENTIALDUTIES
- Ensure quality and performance of all shelter programming;
- Coordinate and oversee day-to-day operations at shelter to ensure optimal results and compliance with strategy and deliverables;
- Oversee intake and exiting of clients from the program, including assessing appropriateness for intake and readiness for transitional housing program, or other longer-term housing;
- Oversee development of individualized service plans and responsibilities for each client and monitor/work with Shelter Case Manager and Assistant Case Manager to ensure that plans are followed and adjusted as needed;
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution to clients and as support to shelter staff;
- Develop and manage specialized services and workshops, house meetings, or other life skills development activities;
- Oversee daily hotline services at the shelter programs. Ensure calls are being answered, logged into the database system, and callers are receiving optimal services.;
- Prepare all documentation for audits by funders;
- Assist in completing grant reporting shelter program. Shelter Staff/Volunteer Management:
Manage Mariposa Haven Shelter staff and volunteers to ensure high-quality shelter services are provided; - Supervise shelter staff and volunteers, including providing ongoing training, support, and evaluation. Manage workflow, schedules, and coverage;
- Be responsible to recruit, interview, hire, and train shelter staff and volunteers;
- Oversee all data capture for the shelter staff;
- Ensure client documentation is complete and accurate;
- Manage volunteer vetting and scheduling.;
- Manage day-to-day operations including vendor contacts, purchasing, supply deliveries, etc.;
- Manage facilities including upgrades, repairs, emergencies, and coordinate insurance claims, etc.; and
- Ensure security systems are adequate and functional at all times.;
- Provide after hour supervisory on-call coverage for Cast Housing Program and hotline a minimum of one week per month;
- Assist with finding staff coverage for Cast Housing Programs in partnership with all Housing Program Managers;
- Other duties in line with Cast Housing Programs needs and as requested.;
- Ensure proper use and documentation for all funds and resources;
- Manage credit card expenses and provide documentation in a timely manner to the accounting department;
- Ensure timesheets and other administrative documentation is completely correctly and submitted on time.
