Engineer II, Backend APIs – Reporting & Insights Team

• Broomfield, CO – Hybrid (remote: Monday & Friday; in‑office: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

• Design, develop, test, and release APIs that power reporting and analytics applications.
• Collaborate daily with Product, UI, and Data engineers to translate requirements into functional services.
• Build intuitive, well‑documented APIs with clear OpenAPI contracts, robust versioning, pagination, filtering, batching, and defined SLAs/SLOs.
• Champion code quality through extensive testing, observability, documentation, code reviews, and design documents.
• Own production services, including dashboards, alerting, capacity and load testing, cost‑aware design, and reliability improvements.
• Leverage AI‑assisted tools throughout the development process.

• 3+ years of software engineering experience.
• Primary development experience in the latest JVM version of Java for high‑throughput, low‑latency back‑end web services.
• Hands‑on experience with Postgre
  
  SQL (or other RDBMS): modeling, migrations, indexing, and query optimization.
• Proficiency with Git/Git Hub and modern team practices (reviews, trunk/branch strategies, code ownership).
• Clear, empathetic communication and a collaborative mindset.
• Nice to have: exposure to cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with asynchronous programming, high concurrency, and frameworks such as Vert.x or Dropwizard.
• Knowledge of event‑driven or streaming architectures.
• Understanding of auth
  
  N/Z patterns (OAuth2/JWT), rate limiting, and API security.
• Observability tools and practices (metrics, tracing, logs) and load/performance testing.
• Experience with Real‑Time Bidding (RTB), SSPs, DSPs, and ad delivery systems is a strong plus.

• Base salary: $125,000 – $135,000 (CA) or $115,000 – $125,000 (CO). Actual compensation determined by location, experience, skills, and internal equity.
