Overview

We’re looking for a 3D Rendering Engineer to join our Augmented Reality team in Santa Monica. The role involves implementing engine and rendering features used across Lenses, Games, and Spectacles, collaborating with rendering and core engineers, and driving innovation in AR rendering technology.

Responsibilities
  • Implement the engine and rendering features used across Lenses, Games, and Spectacles.
  • Collaborate with rendering and core engineers to incorporate new algorithms into the Lens engine.
  • Work on the 3D engine and advanced algorithms utilizing the cutting‑edge capabilities of modern mobile GPUs.
  • Research advanced rendering effects for mobile GPUs and optimize performance.
  • Optimize rendering algorithms for wearable AR devices to achieve best performance, leveraging deep knowledge of rendering techniques, GPU hardware, and profilers.
  • Make an impact on the future of AR rendering technology.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong 3D math and trigonometry skills.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals and C++ coding skills.
  • Proven knowledge of the software and hardware rendering pipeline (mobile, console, or PC).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS in a technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of experience.
  • 2+ years of post‑Bachelor’s software development experience; or Master’s degree with 1+ year post‑grad experience; or PhD in a relevant technical field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with OpenGL, Metal, Vulkan, or Direct

    X APIs.
  • Experience with GLSL, MSL, HLSL, and compute shaders.
  • Experience in optimization for mobile/console GPUs.
  • Experience creating rendering engines.
  • Experience developing unique/custom graphics algorithms and techniques.
  • Experience with Physically Based Rendering (P ).
  • Personal 3D rendering related projects.
