Overview We are seeking an experienced Back End Web Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications and services. This role focuses on server side development, data management, API design, and system integration using modern open source technologies.
You will work in a collaborative, agile environment to build high performance applications while following best practices in software development, security, and system design. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain back end web applications and services
- Build and consume RESTful APIs for integration with front end systems and external services
- Develop scalable systems leveraging open source frameworks (e.g., Django, Rails) and programming languages (e.g., Python, Ruby)
- Design and manage relational and non relational databases
- Implement and optimize search technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, Solr) for large data sets
- Apply test driven development (TDD) and contribute to automated testing efforts
- Use version control systems (e.g., Git, Git Hub) for code management and collaboration
- Create clear and comprehensive technical documentation (APIs, deployment processes, and system architecture)
- Participate in Agile development processes (Scrum, Lean)
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance performance, security, and scalability
- Stay current with emerging technologies and apply best practices in web development
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
(or equivalent experience) - 4+ years of experience developing back end web applications
- Experience with open source programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Python/Django, Ruby/Rails, or similar)
- Strong understanding of how web applications work, including:
- Security principles
- Session management
- Best development practices
- Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of database systems (relational and No
SQL) - Familiarity with HTML/CSS fundamentals
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non technical stakeholders
- Experience with search technologies such as Elasticsearch or Solr
- Experience working with cloud based or scalable architectures
- Familiarity with multiple programming languages (e.g., PHP, JavaScript, ASP.NET, Ruby)
- Experience contributing to open source projects
- Strong interest in learning new tools and technologies
