• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, manage a team of engineers, and optimize both your own code and that of your team. You will set strategy and roadmap for several large and ancillary services, support existing production infrastructure through an on‑call rotation, capacity planning, and onboarding of new devices, migrate traffic to newer protocols, and deprecate legacy protocols and services.

You will manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget, and oversee the deployment of large‑scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $207,000–$300,000 plus bonus, equity and benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience and relevant education or training. Compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.

• Help set the strategy and roadmap for several large and ancillary services.
• Support the existing production infrastructure by managing an on‑call rotation, capacity planning, and onboarding new devices.
• Migrate traffic to newer protocols capable of managing the latest conversational user journeys.
• Deprecate and reduce the footprints of legacy protocols and services.
