The OpportunityWe're looking for a Backend Engineer to join a fast‑growing engineering team building software that supports the operation of hundreds of satellites worldwide.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building scalable backend systems, and working in a startup environment where ownership and impact are high.
You’ll work across backend development, cloud infrastructure, AI integrations, and platform scalability, helping deliver products that are critical to customer missions.
Previous space industry experience is not required.
What You’ll Be Doing- Building and maintaining backend services using Python
- Designing and developing APIs and distributed systems
- Working extensively within AWS cloud environments
- Developing solutions focused on scalability, reliability, security, and performance
- Integrating AI platforms such as OpenAI and Anthropic into products and workflows
- Contributing to Dev Sec Ops initiatives and CI/CD pipelines
- Supporting cloud infrastructure and automation efforts
- Collaborating closely with frontend engineers, product teams, and leadership
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex production issues
- Helping shape technical architecture and engineering best practices
- 3+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience building and maintaining APIs
- Hands‑on AWS experience
- Experience working with Docker and containerized applications
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- GraphQL
- Terraform or other Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools
- CI/CD and Dev Sec Ops experience
- Experience integrating AI platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar
- Experience building AI‑powered workflows or product features
- Startup or high‑growth company experience
- A self‑starter who enjoys ownership and responsibility
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced startup environments
- Passionate about building high‑quality software
- Curious about emerging technologies, including AI
- Collaborative and adaptable
