Software Test Engineer
As a Software Test Engineer at Silvus Technologies, a subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, you will work directly with the Software Quality Assurance Manager and Software Engineering team to accelerate product quality through manual regression tests, exploratory testing, bug triage, and script development for features such as PTT and network performance. The role is 100% onsite in West Los Angeles, CA.
Responsibilities- Execute manual regression tests.
- Lead ad‑hoc testing and debugging efforts.
- Perform exploratory tests against defect reports, new features, and bug fixes.
- Triage defect reports and collaborate with engineers on their resolution.
- Develop scripts to aid testing of features like PTT and network performance.
- Record tickets for detected software defects.
- Document software product requirements and design decisions.
- Adhere to and help uphold software usability and quality standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Strong foundational skills in software development with Python, C/C++, or related languages.
- Experience developing for Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, or bare‑metal environments.
- Demonstrated understanding of software testing practices (unit, integration, system testing).
- Fundamental understanding of computer networking concepts.
- U.S. citizenship (required for U.S. government contracts).
- Successful completion of a background check and drug test.
- Familiarity with test tools such as Wireshark, TCPDump, Putty/Minicom.
- Proficiency with web browser development tools for inspecting network requests.
- Exposure to mesh networking.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies.
- Experience with electrical or RF instrumentation and design.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Aptitude for problem‑solving and troubleshooting technical challenges.
Physical Requirements
Indoor, air‑conditioned facility. Required to lift up to 50 lbs. for equipment setup, walk or move around the lab.
Compensation & Benefits- Hourly rate: $36.06 – $43.27.
