The University of Louisiana Monroe is seeking qualified candidates for its Assistant Director of Athletic Communications position. The position will report to the Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Communications and will assist with the publicity efforts of the University's NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports. The selected candidate will help maintain the athletic department's web page, social media accounts, press releases and statistical records and will serve as the primary athletic communications contact for women's basketball, softball and additional sports as assigned.
Night and weekend work is required as needed.
1-3 years' experience in related field strongly preferred. Compliance with institutional, Sun Belt and NCAA rules and regulations is expected.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
* Oversee publicity efforts for assigned sports.
* Create press releases for selected sports efficiently and in a timely manner. Complies with deadlines established by governing bodies for information and award nominations in a timely and through manner.
* Update and compile current statistics for selected sports accurately and in a timely manner.
* Draft department releases, game notes, media guides, record books, recaps, previews and more.
* Coordinate media operations for all home events from assigned sports including, but not limited to reporting results of all games and making sure home event runs efficiently and effectively. Assist other members of communications staff with media operations for other events, as needed.
* Fulfill media requests for interviews and information in thorough and timely manner and develops positive relationships with local, regional and national media.
* Use social media effectively to help promote athletics department.
* Work with other units in athletic department to help accomplish objectives and goals.

* Bachelor's Degree
* Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
* Must work well individually and in a team environment
* Experience with Sidearm website management
* Experience with Statcrew and NCAA Live Stats statistical scoring systems
* Experience with MS Office suite of products, and desktop publishing
* Experience with Adobe Creative Suite

* Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or relevant field of study
* 1+ year of experience in collegiate sports information or relevant field
* Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
