GENERAL

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction and general supervision of the Center Director, has primary responsibility for providing transportation of Head Start and/or Migrant & Seasonal Head Start children in compliance with all laws, regulations, and program policies, procedures and practices. Maintains positive working relationships with supervisors, coworkers and families. Maintains Class B California Driver’s License and attends any and all required trainings. Follows all Head Start Performance Standards, Agency and Program policies and procedures and other applicable Federal and State regulations to successfully accomplish Agency and Program goals and objectives.

Adhere to agency confidentiality policy with respect to information and records concerning children, families and staff. Maintains professional and ethical standards in accordance with Agency policy, code of conduct and legal requirements.

ESSENTIAL

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

PERFORMANCE INDICATORSDirect Services (100%)Inspects and maintains busses in safe operational readiness.

Arranges and/or completes transportation of bus to and from repair and maintenance appointments as assigned.

Safely transports children and/or families to and from childcare center and locations designated for Program sponsored activities in accordance with assigned schedule.

Ensures compliance with all safety laws and precautions, seating charts, car seat use, safety equipment, child records, etc.

Maintains a safe and positive environment during transportation.

Participates fully and works cooperatively as a team member; addresses complaints and works to resolve problems effectively and efficiently

Supports the cleanliness of bus Notifies supervisor of any unsafe vehicle condition or needed maintenance.

Explains procedures to children and conducts emergency drills and monitors first aid kit, monthly.

Maintains current, accurate, organized, written records and reports, as required.

Serves as communication link between families and center staff. Encourage parents to participate in program educational and social activities.

Submits timely reports as assigned.

Provide supervision of children and guidance as needed.

Supports site staff in opening and closing the center as needed.

Other duties as assigned within the scope of position classification.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Level I):

Must be 21 years of age.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must hold or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Class B California Driver’s License.

Possession of a valid School Bus Certificate.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Level II):

Must be 21 years of age.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must hold and maintain a Class B California Driver’s License and a valid School Bus Certificate for a minimum of 1 year.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (Level III):

Must be 21 years of age.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must hold and maintain a Class B California Driver’s License and a valid School Bus Certificate for a minimum of 3 years.
