Summary:
Under the direction of the Camp & Youth Director, the Extended Care Camp Counselor will interact with and supervise campers aged 5-13 years old. This position is specifically 3:00pm-6:00pm daily, Monday-Friday working with campers in our Extended Care program and assisting with the end of the regular camp day, OR our Extended Care morning program from 7:30am-10:00am daily, Monday-Friday working with campers.
Must be able to commit to the majority of 8 weeks, June 1st - July 31st, with the option to remain on through August 14thth. Additional hours may be available during the summer.
Extended Care Camp Counselor will assist with planning and implementing morning or afternoon camp activities for a group of campers enrolled in the Extended Care program. Work to ensure that the end of the camp day operates in a safe manner at all times and ensure the implementation of group activities while creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all. Extended Care Counselors are expected to uphold, and role model the values of Camp Shalom.
Areas of Responsibility
* Must have the knowledge of campers' whereabouts at all times.
* Actively facilitates camper development in recreational activities, social skills development, values, multi-cultural and environmental awareness.
* Maintain a positive attitude and conduct with the staff team as a positive role model.
* Adhere to and enforce camp policies and procedures in a safe manner at all times.
* Attendance at staff meetings and pre-camp training (mandatory)
* Be prompt to all work shifts and assignments adhering to the daily camp schedule and operating calendar.
* Maintains all camp equipment and supplies.
* Care about and pay attention to campers' needs.
* Performs all other duties as assigned by Camp Leadership.
Ability to work traditional business hours as well as non-traditional hours as business
