Summary of

Job Description:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic executive leader reporting directly to the CEO, playing an essential role as a thought partner in driving organizational growth and financial sustainability. Collaborating closely with senior leadership team, the CFO joins us at a transformative moment in our organization's trajectory as we:

  • review efficacy of organizational financial tools, models, and strategic plans,
  • launch new capital campaign projects, e.g. expanding our aquatics center;
  • prepare to expand our community foundation model through increased DAF and endowment investment opportunities for our donors; and
  • develop new ways to meet our community’s evolving needs.

The ideal candidate possesses strong people and leadership skills, a record of successful financial management, demonstrated experience and proficiency with back-office operations, and the ability to build trusting relationships with staff, board members, volunteers and philanthropic supporters.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in financial operations and systems supporting financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP,” local, state, and federal non-profit fiscal/fiduciary guidelines.
  • Direct the preparation and review of the annual forecasting and budgeting process for all JSV departments and initiatives.
  • Coordinate the annual independent audit including consolidating financial statements and review audited financial statements for proper disclosures.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and efficiencies for all investment accounting.
  • Serve as the staff lead to the Investment and Finance Committees.
  • Cogently present and defend financial position reports to the Board of Directors.
