The Finance Director is a department head under the administrative direction of the Executive Director. This position is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the Finance department including payroll, financial reporting, audit procedures, cash flow management, purchasing, fixed asset inventory, tax and audits. Further, the Finance Director engages in financial analysis in such areas as forecasting, budgeting, cost reduction analysis, and reviewing operational performance.
In addition, this position is responsible for keeping the Agency’s financial processes in compliance and aligned with other State, Federal and Public-sector accounting laws, regulations and practices. The Finance Director is the subject matter expert on all finance and accounting matters and takes the lead in strategizing, building and implementing best in class systems, process / procedures and tools that will support the Agency’s short and long-term goals and objectives.

12 months/260 days (includes 15 paid holidays)
The annual salary range for the Finance Director is $144,468 to $224,124. Placement within this range is dependent on experience and qualifications. Los Gatos-Saratoga Department of Community Education & Recreation also offers an excellent benefit package including:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESIncludes the following; other duties may be assigned.
- Oversees the operations of the Finance department including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goal and objectives
- Prepares and recommends fiscal policies
- Prepares and presents for the Agency’s annual operating and capital budget for Board
- Leads Accounting team in Month-end close, AP, A/R, GL, payroll and expense reimbursements
- Establishes, maintains and monitors system of internal controls to ensure accurate accounting and reporting
- Leads, manages and coordinate annual financial and compliance audits
- Maintains relationships with external auditors and ensures on going communication
- Prepares expenditure and revenue projections and analyzes variance from estimates
- Reviews and develops operating procedures for the Finance department
- Forecasts the cash flow of positions, related to the borrowing needs and available funds for investment
- Manages and oversees all banking and investment relations
- Manages an integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System, along with childcare, tuition and billing software applications
- Works closely with program leaders and staff to educate them regarding finance and the accounting procedures in addition to researching how the finance function can support program operations
- Leads accounts payable system and staff, ensuring that vendors are paid correctly and timely in accordance with state and federal laws
- Oversees payroll process and staff, ensuring that employees are paid correctly and timely in accordance with state and federal laws
- Leads Accounts Receivable process and integration for data between operations and the accounting system.
- Partners with the Executive Director, the Leadership Team and other staff to enhance and better integrate the finance, HR, Online Registration and IT functions
- Oversees the tracking and reporting of the Agency’s temporary and permanent restricted funds and administers timely releases
- Oversees the timely and accurate filing of governmental reports as directed by the state controller office and the Employment Development Department
- Prepares organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the Leadership team and other staff
- Prepares, reviews and analyzes financial data and presents financial report in an accurate and timely manner to the Governing Board, leadership team and program staff
- Oversees all accounting to ensure that revenues and expenditures are consistently and accurately captured in the financial systems
