Software Engineer L5, Machine Learning Platform; Metaflow

Overview

We are building Metaflow, a product that makes it easy to build, manage and scale real‑life machine‑learning (ML) applications aflow is used in over 100 distinct ML applications spanning personalization, recommendations, growth, and advertising.

• Lead the requirements, design, and implementation of Metaflow product improvements.
• Engage with the internal ML community to source feedback, identify pain points, and shape the evolution of Metaflow and the broader Machine Learning Platform.
• Partner with the open‑source Metaflow development community to ensure a mutually beneficial roadmap and relationship.
• Collaborate closely with applied researchers and data scientists to push the cutting edge of machine learning.
• Design and develop scalable, reliable, and user‑centric ML infrastructure that supports large‑scale distributed applications.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, coding, testing, release, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD).

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering high‑quality results.
• Strong software design and development skills, with prior experience in Python.
• Experience building and operating scalable, reliable ML systems and accelerating ML researcher and data scientist velocity via tools, systems, and processes.
• Proficiency in large‑scale build, release, CI/CD, and observability methods.
• Experience working with public clouds, especially AWS.
• Knowledge of machine‑learning algorithms and, where possible, prior experience as a data scientist or MLE.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as Tensor Flow, PyTorch, or similar.
• Significant contributions to open‑source projects.
• Experience building user interfaces.

Compensation is a combination of salary and stock options, with a market‑based range of $100,000 – $720,000. Full‑time hourly employees accrue 35 days of paid time off annually;
