Software Engineer - Commerce Design System

Role Overview

We are searching for UI Engineers to build and drive the foundational Design System for Netflix's Commerce business domain. The role centers on component development, AI‑first tooling, and platform scope across Web and TV.

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality, production‑ready, accessible and performant UI components for a React‑based design system.
• Build reusable component libraries using Type Script/JavaScript, React, and modern CSS frameworks.
• Develop AI‑driven tools to improve our development workflow and increase efficiency for users of the design system.
• Ensure consistent experience across multiple platforms, leveraging prior UI experience on TV platforms.
• Collaborate with System Designers, Product Design, and product engineering teams to integrate core components, design tokens, APIs, and drive adoption.
• Define, set, and implement the technical roadmap for the Commerce Design System in partnership with leadership.
• Enable and enable adoption of the system components across product spaces.

• Extensive experience building and maintaining scalable design systems.
• Proficiency with React, Type Script/JavaScript, and modern CSS.
• Hands‑on experience with component documentation tools such as Storybook and visual regression tools (e.g., Chromatic).
• Experience in AI‑native development or championing AI‑first mindsets.
• Understanding of full software development lifecycle: building, testing, releasing, and supporting production code.
• Experience with server‑driven UI architecture is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage in technical discussions and prioritize trade-offs.
