Mobile Engineer - Commerce Design System

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team and build a dedicated Design System from the ground up.

We are seeking a highly skilled Mobile UI Engineer to build and drive the foundational Design System for Netflix’s Commerce business domain. This role operates across both Android and iOS platforms, with a primary focus on Android.

• Component Development:
  Designing, developing, and maintaining high‑quality, production‑ready, accessible, and performant UI components.
• Technology Stack:
  Deep expertise in Kotlin, Android UI architecture, and frameworks such as Jetpack Compose, Dagger/Hilt, and Circuit.
• AI‑First Development:
  Develop AI‑driven tools that benefit both our own development workflow and the efficiency of those who use our design system.
• Platform Scope:
  Maintain a consistent experience across both Android and iOS; primarily responsible for Android platform delivery while contributing to a shared cross‑platform design language and component strategy.
• Strategy & Roadmaps:
  Work closely with System Designers and Product Design leadership to define, set, and implement the technical roadmap for the Commerce Design System across mobile platforms.
• Collaboration:
  
  Partner with Commerce experience designers and Core Design System engineers to integrate core components, design tokens, and APIs, and collaborate with product teams to drive successful adoption of components into various product spaces.
• Adoption & Enablement:
  Collaborate with product engineering teams to drive successful adoption of Design System components into their respective product spaces.

• Design Systems Expertise:
  Prior experience building and maintaining high‑quality, scalable Design Systems for mobile platforms.
• Android Depth:
  Deep expertise in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Android UI architecture patterns and performance considerations.
• Cross‑Platform Curiosity:
  Genuine interest in Swift and iOS development (Swift
  
  UI, UIKit) and the ability to reason across both platforms.
• AI Native Mindset:
  Champion an AI‑first development mindset, actively pushing the boundaries of AI’s potential in our products and workflows.
• Production Readiness:
  Deep understanding and experience with the full software development lifecycle, including building, testing, releasing, and supporting code in a production environment.
• Server‑Driven UI:
  Experience building mobile UIs in a Server‑Driven UI architecture, including working with Graph
  
  QL as a shared data access technology.
