$18.15 - $27.23 Hourly
$37,752 - $56,628 Annually

Why does the job exist?

This position provides skilled direct care services to individuals with developmental disabilities in an intermediate care facility (ICF) residential setting. Services include providing skilled supports to persons who have significant behavioral challenges and who have been determined to be dangerous to themselves or others, requiring close supervision.

How does it get done?

The incumbent monitors individuals' medical, physical and emotional well‑being and implements individual program plans, behavioral support plans, and prescribed treatment and care plans. Responsibilities include observing and reporting changes in condition, assisting Individuals with activities of daily living, and supporting individuals in maintaining the highest level of function and stability within a structured environment. The incumbent is responsible for accurate and timely documentation including services performed, individuals' condition, behavioral observations, and progress towards goals in accordance with ICF regulatory, Medicaid and agency requirements.

Employees in this position are required to provide these services in a 24/7 setting.

Who are the customers?

Our customers include adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) with a criminal history, members of their support teams, all Los Lunas Community Program (LLCP) staff, and other stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate

Experience working with individuals who are mentally and physically disabled and/or display behavior challenges.

Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma and one (1) year of experience as it pertains to the essential duties of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.

Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training is required.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting as well as in the community-based homes of the individual. Position requires the ability to lift/push/transfer and/or carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and over 100 pounds with assistance. The incumbent may be exposed to unpredictable violent behavior of the individual. Daily driving is required to meet the needs for individuals served. Occasional overnight stay may be required.

Specific geographic location for this position will vary depending on agency needs and utilization. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching are essential functions of this job.
