Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to be proficient in the operation of all analytical testing equipment used for chemical analysis in the Laboratory. Must also be proficient in maintaining all analytical testing equipment. Must be accurate and efficient in the analysis of data and the generation of the associated reports. Must be accurate and efficient in the logging, documenting, and tracking of samples.

Must be accurate and efficient in the sample preparation, as well as the safe handling of chemicals. Provides training to less experienced personnel. Performs other related duties as directed by the Lead laboratory Technician or QA Manager.

Essential Functions:
  • Performs chemical analysis of the facilities metal powder products.
  • Calibrates and maintains equipment, as well as diagnose problems when they arise.
  • Operates and maintains the Carbon/Sulfur and Oxygen/Nitrogen determinators.
  • Operates and maintains the Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP).
  • Documents the calibration and maintenance of said equipment.
  • Prepares customer certifications when requested or required.
  • Must work overtime when requested or required.
Non-essential Functions:
  • Ability to operate and maintain all chemical analytical instruments.
  • Ability to correct and/or develop proper ICP test methods and procedures.
  • Ability to make a bench standards and maintain the standards library.
  • Must be able to determine detection limits and precision testing.
  • Must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Computer literate, working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Experience:
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years experience working in a laboratory environment performing quantitative analysis.
Education:
  • College Degree, however experience may substitute education requirement.
Working Hours and Conditions, including

Travel Required:

The facility requires and provides:
Steel toe shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, dust/chemical half mask respirator, gloves and special gear when needed or required. Alcohol/drug Free workplace 100% of the time.

Dust in the area of facility contains:
Nickel, Chrome, Cobalt, Copper, Iron and Silicon.

No travel required.
