Position Type: Full-Time

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Minimum age of 21 years old
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
• Three (3) years of general driving experience
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English
• Successfully pass a background check
• Successfully pass drug testing and medical qualification standards on the DOT physical for an CDL License
• No prior convictions as specified in SDE New Mexico Standards for School Bus Operations
• Physical abilities to perform the physical tasks required for the position
• Ability to use technology to perform transportation services department responsibilities
• Effective people skills to communicate
• Valid and current New Mexico commercial driver’s license (CDL Class
  
  B) with Air Brake, Passenger, and School Bus Endorsement for Bus Drivers or proof of being in a training program

• The training should include
• Training overview & policies and procedures
• Standards for providing transportation for eligible students
• Pre-trip vehicle inspection
• School bus driver security training
• Safety equipment
• Mirrors adjustment
• Reference point driving
• Passenger management
• Transporting students with disabilities awareness
• Drug and alcohol awareness
• First aid & CPR training
• Complete 4-part DMV test for issuance of Commercial Learners Permit (CLP)
• Behind the wheel training
• Observation time
• Defensive driving course
• Bus attendant training
• Complete the behind-the-wheel skill evaluation test for issuance of Commercial Drivers License (C) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
