Position Summary
The Lowboy Operator / Equipment Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe loading, transportation, delivery, and pickup of construction equipment to and from job sites, and company facilities. This position requires skilled operation of a lowboy trailer and heavy-duty truck while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and equipment care. The ideal candidate has experience transporting construction, industrial, or rental equipment and can effectively represent the company in a professional manner while interacting with customers.
Responsibilities- Safely operate a tractor-trailer with a lowboy trailer to transport construction and rental equipment.
- Safely load, secure, transport, unload, and retrieve equipment in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and routine inspections of trucks, trailers, and cargo securement devices.
- Deliver equipment to jobsite locations and provide basic operational instructions when needed.
- Verify equipment condition before delivery and upon return; document any damage or operational issues.
- Complete delivery paperwork, inspection reports, logbooks, and electronic documentation accurately and timely.
- Coordinate delivery schedules.
- Assist with equipment loading, staging, washing, fueling, and minor maintenance activities as required.
- Follow all DOT, OSHA, company safety, and traffic regulations.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs, accidents, incidents, or equipment issues immediately.
- Support warehouse and yard operations during periods of reduced delivery activity.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A with acceptable driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience operating tractor-trailers, lowboy trailers, or heavy-haul equipment.
- Experience delivering construction, industrial, or rental equipment.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, load securement requirements, and safe driving practices.
- Ability to read maps, delivery instructions, and transportation documentation.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation.
- Forklift certification or experience.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
- Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
- Ability to secure loads using chains, binders, and straps.
- Ability to work and drive outdoors in varying weather conditions.
