Mobile Vehicle Technician – SMR Division

Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division, delivering planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members from their driveway or workplace. No emergency callouts, no unpredictable shift patterns and no roadside recoveries.

• Base salary £40,170, with on-target earnings up to £52,000
• Guaranteed overtime option with additional overtime and bonus opportunities
• 40 hours per week; core hours 8:30 am‑5 pm, with 1 in 4 Saturdays

• Carry out routine servicing
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
• In‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection
• Perform vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards

• Planned appointments rather than emergency responses
• Consistent workflow with predictable demands
• In‑depth repairs, not temporary roadside fixes
• Time to do the job properly, with support and parts ordering built in
• Clear schedules using RAC’s mobile service platform

• Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points

• Competitive base salary and overtime options with potential to earn up to £52,000
