The Staff Accountant is a full‑time, on‑site role based at Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville, LA. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month‑end and year‑end closing processes. The Staff Accountant will prepare and analyze financial statements, and ensure compliance with hospital policies and relevant regulations. Daily tasks include managing accounts payable and receivable, reviewing financial data for accuracy, and collaborating with departments to resolve discrepancies.

The role also supports internal and external audits, contributes to process improvements in the finance function, and provides financial reporting to leadership as needed.

• Strong foundation in general accounting principles, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management processes in a business or healthcare setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.
• Ability to analyze financial data, identify variances, and provide clear, accurate reporting to support decision‑making.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA or pursuit of CPA) are a plus.
• Prior experience in a hospital or healthcare finance environment is preferred but not required.
