Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a highly organized and dependable Administrative Assistant 3 to provide advanced administrative support to the Corrections Assistant Warden and the Administrative Program Director. This position helps ensure the smooth operation of daily administrative functions within a dynamic correctional environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

Two years of experience in administrative services.
Experience Substitution: Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience. Official job specifications for this role are defined by the State Civil Service and can be found here.
Job Duties- Compiles, organizes, and prepares information for special assignments, reports, and investigations. Gathers data to respond to inquiries, drafts correspondence, and prepares letters for signatures of the Corrections Assistant Warden and the Administrative Program Director for distribution to internal staff, external partners, vendors, and the inmate population.
- Provides comprehensive clerical and administrative support to all department heads within the Administrative Division. Utilizes computer systems for data entry, inquiries, and report generation (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Lotus Notes, inmate banking systems, Time and Attendance).
- Maintains confidential files and records for the Administrative Division, ensuring accuracy, organization, and secure handling of sensitive materials. Manages filing, mail distribution, prioritizes immediate attention items, and assists with office policies and procedures. Screens calls and greets visitors.
- Prepares and processes bi-weekly Time and Attendance payroll for assigned areas, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Appointment Type: Probation or Promotion of a permanent, classified Louisiana state employee. Current permanent status employees may be required to accept a probational appointment. A promotion may require a trial detail prior to permanent promotion. The posting may be used to fill a temporary vacancy; if filled as temporary, conversion to a probational appointment may occur if a permanent position becomes available.
