Part-time Student Worker

Student workers for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience while continuing their education. The primary responsibility of a student worker is to assist in their assigned department or site. Essential duties and responsibilities include performing general clerical duties, such as photocopying, filing, computer work, typing, data entry, answering the telephone, directing calls, and mail pick-up and dissemination.

Answer, screen, or forward calls, this includes providing information, taking messages, or scheduling appointments. Assists with district events coordination before, during, and after events. Typing of routine and simple materials (cards, labels, envelopes, short letters, etc.). JESSI (Jobs for ESS Students Initiative) Part-time Student Workers JESSI is an initiative aimed at providing opportunities for students with disabilities an opportunity to obtain gainful employment to increase employment readiness through the use of work skills and employability acquired in the classroom.

It is a collaborative effort among E  schools, Louisiana Rehabilitation Services, and Opportunity Now. JESSI Employs students for part-time positions in schools and departments for up to 240 hrs. during the school year and summer. Other duties as assigned that are related to the functions of the position.
