This position is designated as a fully in-person position. The Assistant Coordinator is required to report to work on-site during normal University business hours to support the operational, investigative, administrative, compliance, and student service functions of the Office for Compliance.
The Assistant Coordinator supports the Office for Compliance by assisting with investigations, ADA and disability services coordination, compliance education and training, and administrative operations for Southern University and A&M College and the Southern University System Office. The Assistant Coordinator conducts investigations related to power-based violence and assists with the implementation of programs designed to educate students and employees regarding their rights and responsibilities under applicable federal and state laws and System policies.
The position also supports the ADA Coordinator and Disability Services Coordinator in ensuring equal access to University programs, services, and activities. The Assistant Coordinator must be sensitive to and understand the different academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds of students, faculty, and staff while establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with constituents and colleagues. The Assistant Coordinator works under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Compliance and reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Compliance.
Regular in‑person attendance is an essential function of this position due to the need for direct interaction with students, employees, and members of the public; coordination of accommodations and testing services; participation in meetings and trainings; management of confidential records; and the performance of investigative and operational responsibilities that require physical presence on campus. The Assistant Coordinator must be available to attend on‑campus meetings, trainings, hearings, testing activities, outreach events, and other University‑related functions as assigned by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES Investigations and Compliance Support
- Conduct prompt, thorough, impartial, and equitable investigations of reports of power‑based violence consistent with applicable laws and System and University policies and procedures.
- Maintain thorough, accurate, and comprehensive investigative and case‑management records. Maintain confidential investigative and accommodation files.
- Assist with the implementation and coordination of compliance‑related educational programs and initiatives regarding:
Title IX, ADA/Section 504, Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, Louisiana Campus Accountability and Safety Act, and other applicable federal and state laws and regulations. - Assist with educational outreach and training for students, employees, and athletics personnel regarding reporting obligations, support services, grievance procedures, confidential resources, and institutional policies.
- Assist the ADA Coordinator and Disability Services Coordinator in ensuring students, employees, and members of the public eligible for accommodations receive equal access to University programs, services, activities, and facilities.
- Serve as a secondary point of contact regarding ADA‑related concerns and inquiries.
- Assist with implementing processes and requirements outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act Policy, Disability Services Policy.
- Assist with accommodation case management and documentation.
- Coordinate and manage disability services testing accommodations for students with disabilities under the direction of the Disability Services Coordinator and Associate Vice Chancellor for Compliance.
