Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections – Corrections Services is dedicated to promoting public safety through fair, professional, and responsive corrections services. This position is located at The Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, LA.
PositionAdministrative Coordinator (Level 1–4) – provides administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of assigned departments within a correctional environment.
Responsibilities- Perform departmental-program duties in accordance with rules, regulations, and policies.
- Communicate with other departments, customers, vendors, and agencies as liaison.
- Serve as assistant to a manager, including scheduling, travel preparation, and delegating administrative matters.
- Prepare correspondence and reports, maintain records, process personnel and financial documents, coordinate schedules, enter and maintain data, and provide customer service to staff and the public.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies and support daily operational needs.
- Prioritize multiple assignments and work effectively in a structured and secure environment.
No experience or training is required.
Work Environment- Employee works with adult male inmates of all custody levels – minimum, medium, maximum (death row) and protective custody.
- Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
- An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
- This posting may be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment; if a permanent position becomes available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
- Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.
- Salary depends on level of experience.
- Applicants must authorize the HR Office to contact prior employers under the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) by answering ‘YES’.
- Any degree, certificate, special license, or DD‑214 must be verified by official documentation prior to hire.
- Any qualifying experience based on college credit/college hours must have an accompanying transcript.
- This is a 24‑hour facility.
