Position: CORRECTIONS ARDC SPECIALIST 1, 2, OR 3

Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services, Allen Correctional Center, Kinder, LA

Overview

This position is a Corrections ARDC Specialist who will manage inmate records, process intake and release data, serve on the Inmate Disciplinary Board, and participate in job boards that directly impact facility operations. The role handles highly confidential information and requires accuracy, professionalism, and sound judgment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain inmate records during intake and throughout the inmate’s sentence ensuring accuracy.
  • Participate in inmate job boards and assist with the overall classification process.
  • Serve on the Inmate Disciplinary Board in direct contact with inmates.
Qualifications
  • Three years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre‑classification, security, or social services, or as a probation or parole officer; OR
  • Six years of full‑time work experience in any field; OR
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience substitution:
    Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university counts as one year of experience toward the six‑year requirement, up to a maximum of four years.
  • Competencies:

    • Following Policies and Procedures – the ability to follow, reinforce, adapt, or develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state legal requirements, State Civil Service rules, and organizational policies.

Position‑Specific Details
  • Appointment Type: Probation, or Promotion of a permanent, classified Louisiana State employee.
  • Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
  • An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
  • This posting may also fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment; if filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
