Monetary Penalties and Recovery Unit (MPRU)

Work Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Crossroads Talent Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Clerical Assistant to support the Monetary Penalties and Recovery Unit (MPRU) within the U.S. Attorney s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana
. The Clerical Assistant provides essential administrative and data management support to the Financial Litigation Unit (FLU) and Asset Forfeiture Unit (AF) by maintaining case records, processing financial documentation, preparing legal correspondence, and supporting debt collection and asset recovery activities. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to handle sensitive information in a fast-paced federal legal environment.
- Provide administrative and clerical support to personnel within the Monetary Penalties and Recovery Unit.
- Enter, update, and maintain information in multiple government databases and case management systems.
- Open new cases and establish debts within the Collection Debt Collection System (CDCS).
- Close expired or fully satisfied debt accounts and maintain accurate case documentation.
- Generate routine reports using Analytics, including:
- Weekly Collection Reports
- Monthly Collection Reports
- Statistical Reports
- Tickle/Task Reports
- Indirect Payment Reports
- Prepare routine legal and administrative documents, including:
- Demand letters
- Financial statement requests
- Repayment agreement correspondence
- Default notices
- Employment verification letters
- Department of Labor correspondence
- Liens and Abstracts of Judgment
- Releases of liens and judgment liens
- Motions to Enroll and Substitute Counsel
- Petitions to Remit Fines
- Garnishment pleadings
- Asset Forfeiture direct notice letters
- Conflict of Interest forms for Assistant U.S. Attorneys
- Assist Collection Agents and Paralegal Specialists with criminal restitution and civil debt collection activities.
- Reconcile payment histories and post missing or indirect payments.
- Support asset investigations by conducting research utilizing:
- CLEAR
- Lexis Nexis
- Credit reporting resources
- Property assessor databases
- Skip tracing tools
- Record liens in applicable jurisdictions and update corresponding information within CDCS.
- Redact personally identifiable information (PII) from financial, medical, and legal documents.
- Maintain electronic and paper case files.
- Scan, organize, archive, and close case files in accordance with DOJ records management requirements.
- Enter calendar deadlines and case events into tracking systems.
- Assist with preparation of direct notices for Asset Forfeiture matters.
- Perform additional administrative support duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous clerical, administrative, legal support, or data entry experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency with:
