Full-time, contract support role; 40 hours per week

Job Summary

DiverseGOV is seeking a Clerical Assistant for a federal government support opportunity in New Orleans, LA. The position supports the Monetary Penalties and Recovery Unit with routine clerical assistance, data entry, document generation, database updates, reporting, payment record support, file maintenance, and administrative duties related to Financial Litigation and Asset Forfeiture casework.

Responsibilities
  • Enter information into databases and case management systems accurately and timely.
  • Open cases, establish new debts, close expired or fully paid debts, and update collection records as directed.
  • Generate weekly/monthly collection reports, statistical reports, tickle/task reports, and indirect payment reports.
  • Prepare demand letters, repayment-related correspondence, default letters, employment verification letters, liens, releases, motions, petitions, garnishment pleadings, direct notice letters, and related forms.
  • Assist with reconciling payment histories, posting missing payments, and posting indirect payments.
  • Support asset investigation and enforcement efforts by assisting with research, searches, reports, skip tracing, recording information, and file updates.
  • Open electronic folders and paper files, enter calendar dates, scan documents, maintain records, and close files.
  • Redact personally identifiable information from sensitive documents as required.
Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, other databases, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work as a reliable team player in a professional office environment.
  • Courteous and tactful interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to review legal and non-legal documents, including motions, briefs, financial records, and case materials.
  • Prior legal support, federal contractor, clerical, administrative, records, collections, or case management experience is helpful.
Schedule and Work Setting
  • Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • Typical office hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • On-site at a federal office in New Orleans, LA
Background and Security Requirements
  • Must be able to satisfy DOJ background/security requirements before starting on-site.
  • Must meet DOJ residency requirements, having lived in the United States for three of the past five years or qualifying under applicable exceptions.
  • Must comply with confidentiality, nondisclosure, cybersecurity awareness, PII safeguarding, ethics, and information security requirements.
