Dow is seeking a skilled Chemical Laboratory Analyst for our Fort Saskatchewan site!
In this role, you will support manufacturing operations by engaging with plant clients to understand their requirements. You will conduct both routine and complex laboratory analyses, ensuring the delivery of high-quality data through statistical evaluation. Your responsibilities will include calibrating and maintaining analytical equipment, implementing new methods, and troubleshooting to resolve plant issues effectively.
Responsibilities- Perform expert-level operation, calibration, and maintenance of analytical instruments across multiple technologies.
- Conduct complex routine and non-routine analyses, adapting methods as needed.
- Facilitate sample submissions, ensuring alignment with plant objectives.
- Investigate and troubleshoot anomalous results and instrument performance issues.
- Select appropriate analytical techniques based on product and process characteristics.
- Develop, validate, and implement new analytical methods.
- Contribute to process optimization and workflow improvements.
- Utilize advanced statistical tools to assess analytical system performance.
- Maintain documentation and timely reporting of results to clients.
- Train and mentor laboratory personnel on analytical systems and practices.
- Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Minimum of a 2-year college diploma in Chemical Technology or equivalent; or 4+ years of relevant military experience in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ years of experience in an industrial or analytical laboratory role.
- Ability to work overtime as required.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without visa sponsorship.
- Bachelors degree or higher in Chemical Technology, Chemistry, or equivalent.
- 7+ years of experience in an industrial or analytical laboratory role.
- Experience with data quality assurance, FT-IR, GC, ICP, IC, LC, TGA, TOC, and other analytical instrumentation.
- Familiarity with LIMS and standard Office software.
- Experience in developing and implementing lab safety programs.
- Capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling objects.
- Able to bend, reach, and stand for extended periods.
- Comfortable wearing required personal protective equipment.
