The PIONEERING NeXt department supports the company-wide departments in ensuring the technology and innovation leadership of Mercedes-Benz. The Startup & Academic Partnerships team acts as the bridge between the external global innovation/academic ecosystems and the internal R&D (Research & Development) departments. With our ACADEMICompass, we find new technologies and use cases by scouting external innovation and academic partners and enable early evaluation through cooperations and pilot projects.

In our team, you will have the opportunity to work on topics with a high degree of responsibility and gain comprehensive insights into the strategic issues of our research and development.

These challenges will come to you:

• Exchange with the internal departments to define innovation needs
• Derivation of suitable cooperation models
• Innovation scouting and evaluation of innovation/academic partners
• Initiation of joint projects
• Preparation and presentation of information to internal and external management
• Support in the conception, setup, and operation of the internal know-how platform/tools
• Testing and pilot implementation of suitable AI tools for the application area

The activity can start in September 2026.

Qualifications:

• Degree in technical studies, engineering, business engineering, business informatics or a comparable course
• Secure handling of MS Excel and MS Power Point
• Secure English and German skills in speech and writing
• Analytical-conceptual skills, communication and team skills, responsibility, initiative
• Enthusiasm and ability to quickly get into new topics
• First practical experience and foreign stays are advantageous
• Engagement and team skills
• Analytical mindset and strategic working method
