Position Overview
The SIPA Superintendent will schedule, coordinate, and supervise the activities of maintenance and construction workers, providing overall on‑site administrative and technical management on maintenance or construction sites. The role is non‑exempt and reports to the Site Manager or Project Manager. It establishes procedures within policy limits and schedules work in 4‑10 shifts during shutdown windows (July 20‑August 13).
Responsibilities- Supervises total maintenance and/or construction effort to ensure the project is constructed and/or maintained in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
- Plans, coordinates, and supervises on‑site functions including scheduling, engineering, material control, etc.
- Provides technical assistance, such as interpretation of drawings, as required.
- Assists project management in developing and implementing project procedures, standards, etc.
- Ensures all on‑site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements, work rules, and company standards.
- Creates new policies or updates existing policies with plant or project management approvals.
- Documents violations, notifies project management, and recommends or implements corrective actions as required.
- Assumes responsibility for productivity of employees, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the job.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Analyzes and resolves work‑related problems.
- Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
- Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Eight (8) to ten (10) years of technical training and/or related experience.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction.
- Basic knowledge of all crafts.
- Advanced knowledge of key crafts onsite, e.g., mechanical skills, soft skills, planning and safety.
- Highly developed leadership and mentorship skills.
- Preferred:
Turner Leadership Training. - Post‑offer drug/alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy.
- Compliance with company and client job site safety requirements.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
- Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc., above and below ground level.
- Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.
- Reaching in all directions.
- Handling and manipulating objects and materials.
- Coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
- Lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead.
- Carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.
- Standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting.
- Seeing with or without correction.
- Hearing with or without correction.
- Wearing respirator and other PPE.
- Typing/data entry.
- Use of stepstool.
- Working in excessive heat and cold.
- Working in loud environment.
Must be able to comply with the company’s Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy and all client safety requirements. The position reports to the Site Manager or Project Manager and is non‑exempt.
