Responsibilities
Under general supervision, reviews residential and commercial building plans and designs to ensure conformance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. Assists contractors, architects, engineers, and the public regarding construction requirements. Conducts building code review correspondence, coordinates implementation of required changes during ongoing construction projects, and performs related duties as required.
Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field AND at least one (1) year of experience in architecture, building inspection, or plan examination.
- OR active certification as a Building Plan Examiner from the International Code Council (ICC).
- OR high school diploma or GED and five (5) years of responsible experience in residential or commercial plan review, residential general contracting, or building construction management.
All candidates must obtain ICC Building Plans Examiner certification before the end of the probationary period. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination. A current Louisiana Architecture license may substitute for the ICC certification.
