Primoris Pipeline Skilled Laborer
Primoris Pipeline is seeking experienced skilled laborers to support pipeline construction projects in Cameron, LA. This position is responsible for assisting crews with grading, excavation layout, stake placement, utility installation support, and general construction activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong construction knowledge, work independently with minimal supervision, and maintain a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities- Measure distances from grade stakes and verify elevations to support excavation and pipeline installation activities.
- Drive stakes, stretch string lines, and assist with grade control operations.
- Level earth to fine-grade specifications using hand tools and shovels.
- Assist crews with trenching, excavation, subgrade preparation, and pipe installation activities.
- Direct truck drivers and equipment operators to designated dumping locations to maintain proper grades and site specifications.
- Assist heavy equipment operators by signaling, verifying grades, and supporting excavation operations.
- Erect shoring, braces, and assist with excavation safety systems as required.
- Assist with pump installations, well-point systems, and dewatering operations.
- Support concrete crews by adding or removing material to maintain proper grade and finish requirements.
- Stack and organize construction materials for reuse and project efficiency.
- Safely operate hand tools and small power tools.
- May serve as a lead laborer, directing work activities of other laborers as assigned.
- Perform routine construction tasks independently and exercise sound judgment when completing assigned work.
- Conduct all work in accordance with company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience in pipeline, utility, heavy civil, industrial construction, or general labor environments preferred.
- Ability to read grade stakes, follow project specifications, and work from verbal or written instructions.
- Knowledge of excavation, grading, trenching, and utility construction practices preferred.
- Experience working around heavy equipment and active construction operations.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
- Must successfully complete all pre-employment requirements, including drug and alcohol screening, physical evaluation, and orientation requirements.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb for extended periods.
- Ability to work on uneven surfaces including dirt, mud, gravel, concrete, and asphalt.
- Ability to work at heights, in excavations, and within confined spaces when required.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators when necessary.
- Ability to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and travel as project needs require.
This position primarily works in outdoor industrial and construction environments and may be exposed to:
- Uneven terrain and obstructed work areas.
- Elevated work surfaces and confined spaces.
- Extreme heat, cold, humidity, rain, and other weather conditions.
- Noise from construction equipment, machinery, and power tools.
- Dust, dirt, and potential exposure to industrial chemicals and substances.
- Active heavy equipment and construction operations.
