It currently specializes in transportation, petrochemical, power, commercial, residential, and ports and rail projects.
Summary:
Estimators are responsible for estimating and bidding construction and paving projects. They work directly with customers (owners) to ensure satisfaction throughout the estimating process. Estimators creates and maintains relationships with owners, owner representatives, subcontractors, and vendors so that company is invited to bid and then to produce accurate bids that get the work and maintain an adequate and manageable backlog. Estimator possesses assertiveness and knowledge commensurate with making recommendations regarding whether BCC bids certain jobs based on job requirements, safety risk analysis and financial stability of client.
Estimators must communicate and cooperate with people all levels, both internal and external to the Company.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Estimate and/or bid on suitable construction and asphalt paving projects
- Lead and present information in planning meetings
- Participate in self-development activities
- Develop relationships with suppliers, and customers, and other stakeholders
- Maintain accurate reports and project mapping; understand contract designs and specifications
- Understands or finds out how to best build specific heavy, civil and structural engineering projects
- Reviews and understands safety policies and procedures as outlined in our safety manual and can apply that knowledge where applicable in the biding process.
- Reads plans accurately, conceptualizes project, interprets and presents value added engineering
- Identifies and initiates activities that will assist in building and cementing relationships with owners, owner representatives, subcontractors, and vendor.

Entry Expectations:
- Work Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an Estimator in the Heavy Civil Construction industry. Strong preference for a candidate with 5-7 years of experience estimating DOT, municipal roadway, site development, earthwork, drainage, and infrastructure projects. Experience with public bid lettings, quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, subcontractor procurement, and estimating software is highly desirable. - Education / Training: BS in Construction…
