Travel: Regional jobsite travel, generally within 1.5–2 hours of Adair; overnight travel is rare
The OpportunityBlue Marble Environmental is seeking an experienced Working Foreman / Crew Leader to lead small field crews across commercial, industrial, municipal, government, and federally funded construction projects throughout western and central Iowa.
This is a hands-on field leadership role for someone who understands how to keep a construction crew productive, organized, safe, and moving with purpose.
You do not need direct erosion-control or stormwater-management experience to be successful in this position. We are willing to train the right construction leader on our specific services and equipment.
What matters most is your ability to lead people, understand construction sequencing, read plans, coordinate labor and equipment, communicate professionally on active jobsites, and take ownership of daily results.
As Blue Marble continues to grow, this position also offers a long-term path toward greater responsibility, including multi-crew supervision, project management, estimating, and field operations leadership.
What You’ll Do- Lead and work alongside a field crew of approximately 2–5 employees.
- Plan daily labor assignments, equipment needs, materials, and jobsite priorities.
- Review plans, site drawings, and project requirements before and during field operations.
- Coordinate with general contractors, site superintendents, inspectors, DOT representatives, municipal contacts, and other project stakeholders.
- Keep crews productive and focused while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Adapt daily plans when weather, site conditions, scheduling changes, or other contractors affect the work.
- Operate and oversee equipment used for erosion control, soil preparation, seeding, and site stabilization.
- Help coordinate trucks, trailers, skid loaders, small tractors, hydroseeding equipment, and related field tools.
- Monitor job progress and identify issues before they cause unnecessary downtime.
- Maintain a sense of urgency while ensuring work is completed correctly.
- Train and coach crew members on safe work practices, equipment use, and job expectations.
- Help maintain an organized chain of command so employees understand their responsibilities.
- Represent Blue Marble Environmental professionally on customer and contractor jobsites.

The company often works at different jobsites throughout the week, and in many cases crews may work at a different site each day.
Required Qualifications- 3+ years of hands‑on construction experience.
- Previous experience leading, supervising, or directing a field crew.
- Strong understanding of construction jobsite operations and workflow.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, drawings, or project specifications.
- Ability to plan labor, equipment, and daily work assignments.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to hold employees accountable while maintaining a productive team environment.
- Comfortable working outdoors and alongside the crew.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability and willingness to travel to regional jobsites.
- Dependable, organized, and able to make decisions in the field.
- 3–5+ years of foreman, crew‑lead, or field‑supervision experience.
