Job Description
This role operates a variety of heavy equipment to support civil construction and grading activities on a data center project. The Heavy Equipment Operator uses GPS-guided systems to perform precise earthmoving, grading, and site development work while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and quality.
Responsibilities- Operate a range of heavy equipment, including scrapers, excavators, dozers, backhoes, track hoes, and motor graders, to support civil construction and site development activities.
- Use a CAT 150M motor grader with GPS to perform accurate grading and earthmoving according to project specifications and design plans.
- Perform civil site preparation, including excavation, grading, back filling, and compaction for data center infrastructure and related civil construction work.
- Follow GPS machine control guidance, including Trimble systems, to achieve precise elevations, slopes, and alignments in grading and earthwork operations.
- Inspect equipment before and after use, report any maintenance needs or defects, and operate all machinery in a safe and responsible manner.
- Work closely with supervisors and other crew members to coordinate equipment operations and ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
- Interpret and follow site plans, grade stakes, and layout information to perform accurate and efficient equipment operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area around equipment and adhere to all site safety rules, procedures, and regulations.
- Adapt equipment operation techniques to varying soil conditions, weather, and site constraints to maintain productivity and quality.
- Support general construction activities as needed when equipment is not in use, contributing to overall project progress.
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as scrapers, excavators, dozers, backhoes, track hoes, and motor graders in a construction environment.
- Hands-on experience operating a CAT 150M motor grader with GPS for grading and earthwork.
- Strong expereince in civil construction and civil site work, including grading and earthmoving activities.
- Proficiency with GPS-guided equipment operation for precise grading and site development.
- Ability to read and follow site plans, grades, and layout information while operating equipment.
- Demonstrated commitment to safe equipment operation and adherence to site safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively on active construction sites and coordinate with other trades and team members.
Skills & Qualifications
- Trimble GPS experience for machine control and grading operations.
- Experience working on data center or similar large-scale civil construction projects.
- Familiarity with a variety of heavy equipment brands and models used in civil construction.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with supervisors and crew members during equipment operations.
