The University of Louisiana Monroe's Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) is seeking a Digital Media Specialist who will serve as the university’s primary videographer and visual storyteller, responsible for producing high-quality video content that promotes the mission, brand, and strategic priorities of the University of Louisiana Monroe. This position conceptualizes, films, edits, and distributes compelling video and multimedia content that supports marketing, recruitment, advancement, athletics, academic programs, and institutional communications.

The Digital Media Specialist works collaboratively with marketing and communications staff, campus leadership, faculty, and students to create engaging visual content for digital platforms, social media, web, advertising, and institutional events. Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Marketing and University Communications, the Digital Media Specialist will:

Video Production
  • Plan, script, storyboard, shoot, and edit professional video productions for university marketing, recruitment, and storytelling.
  • Capture video footage of campus life, academic programs, student experiences, research initiatives, and institutional events.
  • Produce promotional, documentary‑style, testimonial, and highlight videos for use across digital and broadcast platforms.
  • Manage lighting, audio, and camera equipment to ensure high production quality.
Post‑Production
  • Edit video projects using professional editing software to create compelling visual narratives.
  • Incorporate graphics, music, captions, motion elements, and branding consistent with university standards.
  • Format and optimize videos for web, social media, digital advertising, and broadcast.
Content Strategy and Collaboration
  • Work closely with marketing and communications staff to align video projects with university marketing campaigns and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with campus departments, faculty, staff, and students to develop visual storytelling opportunities.
  • Assist in planning creative concepts that support enrollment marketing, fundraising initiatives, and institutional reputation.
Digital Media and Distribution
  • Prepare and publish video content for the university website, social media channels, and other digital platforms.
  • Assist with live streaming of major university events, announcements, and ceremonies when needed.
  • Maintain organized archives of video footage and digital assets.
Equipment and Production Management
  • Maintain and manage video production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio gear.
  • Recommend new technologies, software, and production techniques to enhance video storytelling.
  • Coordinate video shoots, scheduling, and production logistics.
Other Duties
  • Provide photography support when needed for institutional communications.
  • Assist with multimedia coverage of major campus events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Office of Marketing and Communications.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Digital Media, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • Professional experience in videography, video editing, or multimedia production.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with professional video equipment and editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, or similar).
  • Strong storytelling ability and visual composition skills.
  • Experience producing content for social media and digital platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education or marketing and communications.
  • Experience with live streaming or broadcast production.
  • Drone videography certification (FAA Part 107) or willingness to obtain.
  • Knowledge of brand standards and digital marketing strategy.

  • Strong visual storytelling and creative production skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events and productions.

  • Ability to transport and operate video production equipment.
  • Ability to stand, move, and film for extended periods during events and productions.
