responsibilities
- serve as an intermediate‑level customer service representative in a high‑volume call center at the sewerage & water board.
- receive, process, and respond to service requests and informational inquiries from the public via telephone, in‑person visits, facsimiles, e‑mail and other electronic means.
- handle all non‑public‑safety calls (no police, fire or ems related).
- work a fixed or rotating shift; may work weekends and during emergencies.
- high school diploma or ged.
- permanent status with the city of new orleans or at least one year of customer‑service experience in a high‑volume call center environment.
- completion of the following courses (or equivalent): basic grammar usage and proofreading (comm 110/111/112), basic office skills (gcle 310), techniques of good customer service (pbsv 220), telephone techniques (pbsv 230).
- successful completion of fifteen (15) college credit hours from an accredited college or university.
- minimum one‑year probationary period.
- computerized keyboarding test: ≥20 words per minute after deduction of errors; written test 100% weighted.
- pass written test to qualify for keyboarding test.
