LSU School of Dentistry Oral Surgery Department is currently seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1, 2 or 3 at our New Orleans location.No experience or training required.

Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:- Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients
- Maintain and stock cabinet
- Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques
- Chart patients according to LSU SD systems (Axium Computer knowledge)
- Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student
- Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student
- Check inventory and order supplies when needed.
- Knowledgeable of computers.
- Communicating effectively:
The ability to relay information correctly and appropriately to connect people and ideas. - Focusing on Customers:
The ability to serve the needs of those who support and/or rely on the services provided. - Following Policies and Procedures:
The ability to comply with policies and procedures of the organization as well as State Civil Service rules, and all applicable federal and state laws.
Classified Probational Career Progression:
This position is part of the career progression group May be filled as a Dental Assistant 1 ,2 or 3.
Work Schedule:Monday
- Friday; work hours will be determined by department.

Compensation:There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of
- $15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title
- $14.06 for Dental Assistant 1 title
- Pay based on years of experience for Dental Assistant 3 title
- $1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
- $2.25 per hour candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.
- $1.50 per hour for EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).

Pre-employment Drug testing and Criminal Background check are required.
This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months
