Duties

  • Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
  • Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care tailored to their individual needs.
  • Assist with chairside procedures, ensuring smooth workflow during treatments such as restorations or extractions.
  • Take and develop medical imaging, including X-rays, while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and progress notes in EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times.

Requirements

  • Valid licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist in accordance with state regulations.
  • Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred, with strong knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
  • Proficiency in dental office software such as Eagle soft or Dentrix, along with familiarity with medical coding and documentation review.
  • Skilled in chairside assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry to optimize efficiency during procedures.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic environment.
  • Ability to perform patient care tasks such as vital signs measurement, medical imaging, and patient assessment confidently.
