LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry, Orthodontics Department is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2. To provide chair side assistance to a licensed dentist and to instruct and assist dental students in four-handed dentistry. The employee will provide chair side assistance to dentists and dental students in a variety of specialties which include but not limited to:
Oral Surgery, Orthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics, Pedodontics, Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics. The employee will work under the general supervision of the dental assistant supervisor in the sophomore, junior and senior clinic, General Practice Residency Program and the Emergency Dental Clinic at the LSUHSC School of Dentistry.
No experience or training required.

Job Duties And Other Information Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:- Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients
- Maintain and stock cabinets
- Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentist techniques Chart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium Computer knowledge)
- Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student
- Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student
- Place rubber dam and directed by dentist or student
- Expose digital radiographs and expose and develop traditional radiographs and digital photographs (intra-oral and extra-oral as directed by the dentist or student.
- Make study models from alginate impressions as directed by the dentist or student

Work ScheduleMonday–Friday; work hours will be determined by department.

Compensation- $15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title
- $14.06 for Dental Assistant 1 title
- $1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
- $2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.
- $1.50 for EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).
