Responsibilities
Supervisory, technical and administrative work in reviewing and examining plans and specifications for compliance with adopted building codes. This position is responsible for the technical, administrative, and supervisory duties for the building plan review section. Work includes supervising, directing, and evaluating assigned staff, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals; and related work as required.
Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or a closely related degree.
- For some positions a Master’s Degree in City Planning or Historic Preservation may substitute.
- Four (4) years of experience in architecture, building inspection and plan examination.
- OR high school diploma, and eight (8) years of responsible experience in residential or commercial plan review, residential general contracting or building construction managing.
- Active ICC Certification as a Building Plan Examiner from the International Code Council or possession of a current Louisiana license to practice Architecture.
- A rating of training and experience weighted 100%; only experience gained within the last ten (10) years counts for credit.
