Location: New Orleans

The Interior Designer role at Tara Shaw is a full-time, on-site position based in New Orleans, LA. The ideal candidate will develop interior concepts, create design presentations, and collaborate with architects and project teams from initial planning through installation. Daily tasks include space planning, preparing construction and design documentation, selecting FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment), and coordinating with vendors, contractors, and installers.

The role also involves site visits, measuring and verifying existing conditions, managing project timelines and budgets related to interiors, and ensuring that designs align with client needs and architectural intent. The Interior Designer will participate in client meetings, provide clear visual and written communication of design ideas, and support multiple projects simultaneously in a studio environment.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of high end residential experience as a licensed interior designer.
  • Candidates should possess strong Interior Design skills, including concept development, materials selection, and visual presentation.
  • Candidates should possess Space Planning skills to optimize layout, circulation, and functionality for residential or commercial interiors.
  • Candidates should possess Architecture and Construction Drawings skills to read, coordinate, and produce plans, elevations, and technical details.
  • Candidates should possess FF&E skills in sourcing, specifying, and documenting furniture, fixtures, and equipment aligned with project budgets and aesthetics.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software (such as AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up, or similar) and presentation tools.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, architects, contractors, and vendors.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and time management, with experience handling multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards, and best practices for interior construction and finishes.
  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant interior design work, including drawings, renderings, and completed projects.
