A facility is seeking a General Surgeon for locum tenens coverage.

The facility is located in Northern Iowa.

This opportunity is for a board-certified general surgeon to provide coverage beginning in February on an ongoing basis, either one 7-day stretch per month or two 3-day weekends per month. Weekend coverage consists of 24-hour call from 7a-7a (Friday-Sunday), while weekdays run 7a-5p with potentially one weeknight call Monday-Thursday. The need is due to a retiring surgeon, joining a team of five permanent surgeons with an average volume of 20 cases per week across two surgical locations:
Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center and Tri-State Surgery Center. Mercy One utilizes Epic, is a Level II trauma center with nine ORs and two endoscopy rooms, while Tri-State Surgery Center uses paper charting. Full support services are available, and the case mix includes a broad range of general surgery procedures such as endoscopy, hernia repairs, appendectomies, colectomies, lumpectomies, sentinel node biopsies, cholecystectomies, ports, splenectomies, skin procedures, abscess I&Ds, venous procedures, and hemorrhoid treatments.
